Having a makeup addiction doesn’t come cheap. There’s so much to get, to try, to wear. So many different shades of nude. But when you’re on a budget, you have to be strict with yourself and only buy the essential luxuries (perhaps only two shades of nude lipstick)… Or, you hunt for deals.
Every day thousands of cosmetics go on sale for a fraction of the standard price, in-store and online. Online shopping for makeup is a great tool in finding great cosmetics at a cheap price. I’ve taken a look at this weeks offers on different cosmetic websites, and chosen 20 of the best cheap beauty buys available. So go and change into your PJ’s, grab a cup of tea (or glass of wine), and enjoy!
10. The Balm Mary Lou Manzier Luminizer
Now this is a highlighter that I personally use on a day-to-day basis. It’s my favourite highlighter of all time. What I hate about so many highlighters is the streak they often leave in its track. You know, the defining line between highlighter and bronzer? Yuk. This highlighter is so blendable, as soon as you start buffing out the streaks and edges the formula seeps into the skin in a natural finish.
Thats not the only benefit of this highlighter, the golden shimmer is buttery and naturally reflective, and not to mention on sale for just £13.50! The Balm’s highlighter is usually sold for £20.00 in the UK, but Feel Unique have the glowing beauty on sale #winning !
9. Anastasia Beverley Hills Contour Pro Series Powder Contour Pans
The Anastasia Beverley Hills Contour Pro Series Powder Kit is one of the most commonly used contour kits on the market, and what I love about the powders is how effortlessly they blend into the skin. You can do some serious contouring with such a wide variety of hues, using them either for contour purposes or to blush and highlight as a finishing touch.
Although these pans were created to refill the Pro Series Powder Kit, you can of course, create your own kit with these single pans, and get to create a kit with the exact hues to suit you. Usually costing £14.00 per pan, you can buy them on sale for just £4.20 on Beauty Bay.
8. Kiko Lipgloss Pencil
Now this product is a real gem! I own two of these little bad boys, and I couldn’t be happier with them. They’re lipgloss pencils. Yes, you read right – lipgloss pencils! They’re jumbo pencils, with a creamy textured, glossy, and highly pigmented formula that is simply to die for. This nudey pink shade ’08 Natural Pink’ is my absolute favourite. And the price – £3.90 is such a reasonable price for a product that is luxuriously thick, long wearing and beautiful in shade.
Kiko Cosmetics has so may sale offers too, so it’s definitely worth a browse on their website. From brushes to eyeshadows, there is bound to be a bargain in there for you. Take a look at http://www.KikoCosmetics.com
7. Too Faced ‘Melted Metals’ Lipsticks
Too Faced is one of my favourite brands. From their eyeshadows to bronzers and lipsticks, I’m a fan. Sometimes, the Too Faced website hosts a sale where you can find the Too Faced products that you love so much, at a discounted price.
I was happy to find the Melted Metal Lipstick collection on sale today, down from £16.00 to a £9.00… Yay! I quite like the lipstick collection, my favourite shade being ‘Melted Nude’, obviously… The lipstick is a liquid lipstick formula, which is super pigmented, long wearing, and a satin finish. What I love most about these colours, is that these shades suit such a wide spectrum of skin tones, so there is something for everyone. You’ll find 8 juicy looking discounted colours, all with free international shipping!
6. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer
This concealer made it into my top 10 cheap beauty buys for one simple reason – it is the best concealer on the market that is under £10. In my opinion, at least. Whilst the concealer provides a medium coverage on red spots, it never fails to provide a full coverage on the dark bags lurking underneath the eyes.
I usually use this concealer under the foundation for spots (with a full coverage foundation), and over the foundation as a highlighter or concealer under the eyes. I found whilst using this concealer that baking isn’t necessary. It doesn’t crease easily, and stays in tact in hot weather (tried and tested!). For this, the
wand really can’t be flawed.
5. Bourjois Delicé de Poudre Bronzing Powder
Remember when you wore Maybelline’s Dream Matte Mousse when you were younger and electric blue mascara? Well, back when I was wearing those, I was also wearing the Bourjois Delicé de Poudre Bronzing Powder, or the chocolate bronzer, as I liked to call it. But this one I kept on to. I have never stopped loving the chocolate bronzer, and I regularly use it on my clients.
Though the bronzer doesn’t come with much choice in hues, the lighter shade is well suited to pale caucasian shades, all the way to light olive skinned tones; and the darker shade is great for tanned skin to a variety of darker skin tones – so Bourjois have figured out a way to cater to a wide variety of skin tones with just one shade. The formula is a buildable formula, and this is what I love about it. It’s very hard to find a buildable bronzer, but the more you apply this bronzer the more it suits a darker skin tone. Both bronzers are sheer, buildable and provide a naturally sweeping bronzed glow. Right now, M&S have the bronzers for the discounted price of £6.00, so it doesn’t get much better than that!
4. Maybelline Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner
I have had the Master Precise Pencil Eyeliner in my makeup kit for a couple of years now, and it was revolutionary at the time. I hadn’t come across a pencil eyeliner that was as dark and creamy as that, so when Maybelline launched the Master Precise liquid pen, I had high expectations.
The Master Precise Liquid Eyeliner does exactly what you want a liquid eyeliner to do, and it executes it well! The formula doesn’t flake after a few hour of wear, does not smudge, and is darker than dark. This is the liquid eyeliner that has restored my faith in liquid eyeliners! I also love the felt tip, easy to control a lot less messy than the conventional brush in a liquid bottle that splatters everywhere when you remove it. For £5.99, your eyeliner can be sleek, bold and sharp – just the way it should be.
3. NYX Cosmetics Professional Makeup Glitter Primer and Face & Body Glitter Brilliance
This is more of a two-in-one cheap beauty buy, because, well they just go hand in hand. Both the NYX Glitter Primer and Glitter Brilliance are so wonderful, and work like a match made in makeup heaven.
The glitter primer does what it says on the tin. For £8.00 the NYX primer preps loose glitter by providing a smooth and silky base, sticking to the eyelids so that not a glitter fall out is not an issue. Once the glitter is applied, a creaseless finish is achieved with using this primer, and for that reason it is the cheapest effective glitter primer on the market.
The NYX Face & Body Glitter Brilliance is one of my favourite glitters to use. Whats to compare to other brands other than the shades available and the price? The ‘Copper’ glitter is my favourite, and looks fantastic with a nude or brown matte lip. For £5.50 you can achieve a luxurious makeup look, that lasts all night long.
2. NYX Cosmetics Lip Lingerie
While we’re on the topic of NYX and best cheap beauty buys, we can’t really skip over the NYX Lingerie liquid lipsticks now, can we? NYX has created a matte liquid lipstick in a variety of gorgeous shades, which offers us a cheaper alternative to Huda Beauty’s Liquid Matte range, and Kylie Cosmetic’s Lip Kit range. Whilst the NYX Lingerie lipsticks are a cheaper alternative to the more expensive and highly raved about matte lipsticks, by no means have NYX compromised on quality or lack of stunning shades to chose from. My favourite is ‘Bed Time Flirt’, it’s the perfect combination of nude and pink, and no matter what I’m wearing, what my hair looks like, it spruces up my whole outfit.
The Lingerie beauties are transfer proof, and the matte formula dries to a point of smoothness, contrary to countless reviews stating they’re very drying, I found them to wear comfortably soft. The formula and countless gorgeous shades make this a top beauty buy in general, but the price of £7.00 makes this product one of my favourites!
1. L’Oreal Paris Double Extension Waterproof Mascara
The queen of mascara’s. This is the most amazing mascara I’ve ever come across, and it’s a favourite amongst my brides. The primer and waterproof mascara work in harmony to coat each lash in the truly waterproof creamy formula that I just adore!
If you have read my ‘How to Get Naturally False Lashes’ blog post, you’ll know that I’m a fan of natural lashes, because with this mascara, everyone’s lashes are like a full and thick set of falsies without the glue! This mascara is the secret behind my long, thick, curved lashes, and has been for ten years. I could go to special events and a night out without any lashes, just as long as I have my secret weapon in my makeup bag!
You can purchase the waterproof mascara from L’Oreal’s Amazon store by clicking on the link below for just £11.22
