Nude is my favourite shade of… well actually it’s just my favourite shade. The nude love affair that has involved every girl on the planet has been running for well over a year now, but nude is that universal colour that just suits every skin tone perfectly (depending on the shade of nude you choose, of course). So far this year, I’ve seen so many nude looks on dark skinned women that are just everything, and as it took me well over 6 months to find my perfect shade of nude, I’ve compiled my top 10 nude lipsticks for dark skin, to try and help you find your perfect nude (and maybe because I’m not yet ready to move on from nudes…).
10. Colour Pop Ultra Matte Lip – ‘Limbo’
How hot is this lipstick shade?! YouTube fashion & beauty vlogger Kiitan shared this beaut of a lipstick shade as one of her favourites, and now it’s definitely one of mine! Kiitan first lined her lips with M.A.C lipliner ‘Chestnut’ to achieve this stunning look, but ColourPop’s Lip Pencil in ‘Pitch’ is also the perfect match.
I’m a fan of ColourPop’s Ultra Matte Lip formula, and this shade is simply to die for. Oh, and it’s only £4.84…

9. Winky Lux Matte Lip Valour – ‘Latte’
This matte lipstick is heaven in a little bottle. Firstly, the mousse-like texture is a dream to slide on, and is infused with vanilla so it smells (and tastes…) so yummy. Although the lipstick dries matte, your lips feel totally hydrated and silky throughout the day thanks to the suspended pigments within the formula.
The pigmented lipstick is sure to last all day, and is the type of nude that makes a bold, 90’s throwback statement.
8. M.A.C Cosmetics Lipstick – ‘Persistence’
M.A.C have some of the best shades of lipstick I’ve ever seen. So many hues in each colour, I could spend a whole day drooling over their nude shades. My everyday go-to lipsticks are M.A.C, and whilst they bleed and need topping up every couple of hours or so, I couldn’t be without them!
‘Persistence’ is an oldie but goodie, lets face it. Nude with warm undertones, and looks amazing. This is the perfect lipstick shade if you’re looking for a nude that doesn’t blend with the skin, but gently lifts your overall tone of makeup.
7. NYX Lip Lingerie – ‘Beauty Mark’
When it comes to matte liquid lipsticks, I’m definitely a fan of the Lip Lingerie range by NYX. The nudes in this collection are of the chart, and they did not disappoint when it came to this ‘Beauty Mark’.
The formula is highly pigmented and dries in a stunning matte finish, making it one of the comfiest matte liquid lipsticks to wear. Don’t ask me how, but this lip shade dries kind of ombre. I swear…
The £6.50 bottle of luxury is a great everyday nude, enhancing your overall makeup look to be clean, fresh and stunningly simple.
6. Gerard Cosmetics Colour Your Smile – ‘Cocoa Bean’
Ok, so this ones a lipgloss, but it’s no ordinary lipgloss. Gerard Cosmetics ‘Cocoa Bean’ is so drawing, I can’t help but be mesmerised by it! The gloss is totally opaque, shimmerless and full of mirror, without being sticky and gooey (which is what I hate most about lipgloss’).
The colour instantly adds elegance to your overall makeup look (I didn’t even know that was possible), and would be the perfect match to a bronzed smokey eye.
5. Charlotte Tilbury Hot Lips Lipstick – ‘Penelope Pink’
Charlotte Tilbury’s Hot Lips Lipstick range is gorgeous, but this colour in particular is simply stunning. It’s a shade that compliments a wide variety of skin tones, and on dark skin tones this hue is to die for. A nude pink that creates a natural and chic statement lip, and is perfectly matched with M.A.C lipliner ‘whirl’, or Charlotte Tilbury’s ‘Pillow Talk’ liner.
This is a bridal nude. A nude that glamourises every makeup look, looking bold and fresh. The formula is silky, creamy, and hydrating, without being too wet or sticky. You may need to top it up a couple times during the day as this beauty isn’t bleed proof. But for this shade and silky formula, it’s worth the top up!
4. Tom Ford Soleil Lip Foil – ‘Spanish Flame’
Is there anything better than a foiled nude? This lip foil from Tom Ford is a nude that is a glamorous statement, and perfect for special occasions. Whilst the Tom Ford formula is not too foiled and reflective, the shade is a highlighting nude that is sure to enhance the shape of your lips. Thin and silky, the lipstick stains the lips, ensuring a long lasting impression.
The bronzed nude doesn’t need to be lined, as the foiled formula allows the lips to look both shaded and illuminated at the same time. With a light and fresh eyeshadow look, this hue can complete a makeup look to die for – I love it.
3. Urban Decay Comfort Matte Vice Lipstick – ‘Carnal’
I’ve fallen head over heels for this one. Urban Decay introduced the new Comfort Matte Vice Lipstick line earlier this year and this shade is making my eyes pop!
The Comfort Matte range is the creamiest matte lipstick from the Vice range, and I can tell. The formula is luxuriously soft without being messy, and has long lasting wear to compete with. The matte finish is so smooth that it’s hard to crack, and this shade makes it all the more scrumptious to look at. I love that this shade is a gorgeous naked lip look that makes the lips look naturally nude and toned.
2. Kylie Cosmetics – Brown Sugar
I am obsessed with this shade. Kylie, well done. This lipstick has that gorgeous natural, bold and fresh lip affect with a wide variety of dark skin tones, so this one is an all rounder. You could slap this lipstick on on a rough day and still look chic. A nude shade of lipstick well suited for every occasion is just what every girl needs in her kit.
The shade isn’t the only good thing about this lipstick. The Kylie Cosmetics liquid lipstick formula is one that will last all day without bleeding. Though the formula has its issues, such as drying and cracking with prolonged wear, both the formula and hue are still one of my favourite matte liquid lipsticks on the market.
1. Dior Addict Lacquer Stick – ‘Poisonous’
Dior just launched a range of lipsticks that are an addition of the Dior Addict lipstick line, and they’re incredibly luxurious. The Dior Addict Lacquer Sticks are uber thick, creamy, and packed with gloss, making it the ultimate glossy formula.
As for the colour… Isn’t it just dreamy? ‘Poisonous’ is the perfect combination between brown and nude, lacquer and matte, making it a match made in heaven with dark skin tones. The lipstick is so bold that you can pull of a flawlessly fresh makeup look without ploughing on the eyeshadow. The lipstick alone is a gorgeous statement in itself.
