I’ve always been a fan of curls, and thanks to my Greek Cypriot ethnicity it’s never been too hard to wear my natural curls in public. But thanks to years of abusing the GHD’s trying to get my hair as straight as can be, my curls have become less fixed and more frizz…
Last year, I stumbled across a product that made everything SO much easier, and quickly developed a routine to get my hair curly without using any heat. To get fixed, shiny curls follow these three quick and simple steps!
1. Wash Your Hair Girlfriend!
Before you get your favourite shampoo out, give your hair a good brush, then get it in the shower and give it a good wash. Be sure to use conditioner, and perhaps you should let it sit for a little while…
2. Prepare Your Hair
Prepare your hair by wrapping it in a towel, just enough to stop it dripping. Don’t towel dry your hair though, you want it to be quite damp when you tip your head upside down and scrunch it curly. You can even pop in a drop of your favourite hair serum whilst you scrunch for an extra touch of shine. It’s important not to brush your hair. That’s right! Brushing your hair only makes it straighter and frizzier – hence the conditioning tip in step one!
3. Let’s Get Curly!
Last year whilst holidaying in Cyprus, I discovered a little gem… Curling cream! Where has this been my whole life?! After testing a couple curling creams, the one I like the most is Lee Stafford ‘Here Come The Curls Control Crème’ ! It’s gorgeous in that the formula holds the curls together, making them appear shiny and healthy, and stay in tact all day. But that’s not all, even humidity can’t break this beauty, which is what I love the most. You can be in the steamiest of environments, and this curling cream won’t budge a curl!
After scrunching your hair, wait for it to dry for around 5-10 minutes and apply a cherry sized amount of curling cream into the hair, spreading it around and scrunching as you go along. Once your hair is dry it should appear beautiful, curly, and sleek.
